About the Role

As a Frontend Android Engineer in our Customer Digital Experience Tribe (CDX), you’ll play a key role in designing, developing and delivering best of the industry Android application experience. Ability to digest complex orchestration of numerous systems while adhering to stringent performance guidelines.

What will your day look like

As a Frontend Android Engineer, you are expected to:

• Pays attention to the detail and demonstrates problem solving capability to develop and deliver quality solutions
• Demonstrate a willingness to build competency in their discipline and seeks direction as required
• Understands, responds and takes part in facilitating continuous improvement practices
• Adopts strategic technologies and frameworks. Assists in identifying and evaluating potential new technologies and frameworks
• Takes part in troubleshooting for service recovery
• Provide ongoing support for platforms as required e.g. problem and incident management
• Adopts a vision and plan for application-level solution design and architecture for the platform
• Have a thirst and willingness to expand knowledge with new technologies bringing benefits into the team

What will you bring

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Experience in designing and Building complex Applications for the Android Platform.

• Good understanding of Kotlin, Java, Jetpack Compose, RxJava, Android Architecture Components, Data binding and Material design components.
• Experience in collaborating with product, design, and other engineering teams to drive execution.
• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes & Understanding of Android Build process.
• Solid coding practices including good design documentation, unit testing, continuous integration, and source control (GIT) and peer code-reviews (required).
• Proficient in Problem Solving, Data Structures and Algorithms Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
• Solid experience in writing Unit Tests and UI tests, must be familiar with Junit, Espresso
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
• Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills.
• Sound planning, organizational and problem-solving skills, excellent self-organizing skills

Relevant Experience

• Strong experience in projects with Rest APIs
• Highly experienced in creating and consuming Rest API specifications
• Expert in debugging and troubleshoot complex applications
• Mastery in Android platform with relevant experience.
• Mobile/Digital Banking project experience
