Launched March 17, 2026 at Rs. 42,999 in India. The largest battery for the price. A top-tier chip. IP69K water resistance. An ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. One frustrating decision holds it back from perfection.

POCO’s X series has always been the one that pushes specs upward while keeping price in check. The X8 Pro Max takes ambition to new heights. It has a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. Also, it includes the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s flagship chip. It has triple IP certification, including IP69K, and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor all for Rs. 42,999 in India. That is a specification list that embarrasses phones costing Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000 more.

The X8 Pro Max launched in India on March 17, 2026, alongside the POCO X8 Pro. Where the X8 Pro is the balanced, accessible option at Rs. At ₹32,999, the X8 Pro Max is perfect for buyers seeking top performance and a massive battery. 50,000 and are willing to pay the Rs. 10,000 premium to get there.

Note: As of March 2026, we still don’t have confirmed availability or pricing for the Philippines market. The X8 Pro, a different and less powerful model, is confirmed as a Flipkart-exclusive launch in India. Philippine buyers should watch POCO’s official channels for regional availability.

Display — 1.5K AMOLED at Its Best

The 6.83-inch AMOLED display has a 3840Hz PWM dimming rate. This means less flickering and reduced eye strain, even at low brightness. It is TÜV Rheinland certified for low blue light and flicker-free viewing.

Dolby Vision and HDR10+ make streaming on Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube look great. The 120Hz adaptive refresh rate lowers to 60Hz for static content. It drops to 30Hz in AOD mode. This helps extend battery life smartly. At 500 nits, the typical brightness is good. It also has higher peak brightness for HDR content, making outdoor visibility strong.

The 6.83-inch size is notably large for a non-foldable Android phone. For media consumption and gaming, this is an advantage. For one-handed use, the 218g weight and 6.83-inch size will need both hands for most tasks.

Performance — Dimensity 9500s Delivers

The MediaTek Dimensity 9500s is a 3nm flagship chip. It scores 2.4 to 2.6 million on AnTuTu, competing with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The Dimensity 9500s handles gaming, multitasking, and demanding apps well.

The 12GB LPDDR5x RAM is the only option. It’s okay at this price, but you can’t upgrade if you want more RAM. The 16GB option found in flagship phones would be a better choice at this price.

One important note: the Dimensity 9500s is different from the Dimensity 9400. The 9400 is in Xiaomi’s 15 series. The ‘s’ suffix indicates a slightly modified version optimised for efficiency. For everyday use, performance differences are small. However, buyers focused on benchmarks should pay attention to the distinction.

The value argument:

The POCO X8 Pro Max at Rs. 42,999 offers Dimensity 9500s performance that matches phones priced at Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 70,000. For pure performance-per-rupee, it is difficult to beat at this price point in March 2026.

Battery — The Headline Feature That Delivers

The X8 Pro Max has a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. This is a big difference from the X8 Pro’s 6,500mAh battery. Silicon-carbon batteries hold more energy and last longer.

Claims of over 3 days on moderate use seem valid. This comes from both reviewers and POCO’s marketing. A 9,000mAh battery combined with the efficient Dimensity 9500s supports this. For heavy users, like gamers and video streamers, two full days of use is realistic. This includes social media and frequent calls. For moderate users, three days between charges is achievable.

The 100W fast charging takes the 9,000mAh battery from 0 to 100% in about 40 to 45 minutes. That’s impressive! The 27W reverse wired charging lets the X8 Pro Max act as a power bank. This is useful, thanks to its large battery capacity.

Camera — The Light Fusion 600 Sensor Does Not Match Its Name

The 50MP Sony Light Fusion 600 sensor has strong specs. However, HyperOS image processing doesn’t fully tap into its potential. This results in softer and less detailed images than expected from a high-end sensor.

Daylight photography is perfectly acceptable for social sharing. Low-light performance benefits from OIS and the large sensor size. Video at 4K from both rear and front cameras is strong for this price.

If camera quality is the primary purchase criterion, the POCO X8 Pro Max is not the best choice in this price range. If you care more about battery life, gaming, and durability than the camera, that makes sense.

Durability — IP69K Is Genuinely Rare Here

Triple IP certification IP66, IP68, and IP69K is rare at any price point and exceptional under Rs. 50,000. IP68 covers submersion up to 1.5 metres. IP69K means it’s tough against high-pressure water jets and steam. This rating comes from industrial equipment standards. This feature is perfect for buyers in rainy areas, outdoor users, or anyone worried about bathroom mishaps.

The 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor works well with wet or oily fingers. This feature adds to its water resistance. An optical fingerprint sensor can fail when hands are wet from rain or water. The ultrasonic sensor works regardless.

The USB 2.0 Problem

At Rs. 42,999, the decision to use a USB 2.0 port is the most frustrating compromise on the X8 Pro Max. USB 2.0 limits data transfer to 480 Mbps. This speed is fine for charging but too slow for moving large 4K video files from a phone. Moving a 10-minute 4K video from the X8 Pro Max to a laptop over USB 2.0 takes noticeably longer than on a phone with USB 3.x.

The X8 Pro has the same USB 2.0 limitation as other POCO phones. This is frustrating, especially for a phone priced at Rs. 10,000 higher that positions itself as a near-flagship device. Buyers who frequently transfer large files should plan to use wireless transfer or cloud backup instead.

POCO X8 Pro Max vs POCO X8 Pro — Is the Premium Worth It?

Spec POCO X8 Pro Max POCO X8 Pro
Price Rs. 42,999 / 46,999 Rs. 32,999
Chip Dimensity 9500s (3nm) Dimensity 8500-Ultra (4nm)

Charging 100W + 27W reverse 100W
USB port USB 2.0 (disappointing at price) USB 2.0
Weight 218g 201.5g

The X8 Pro Max costs 10,000 more than the X8 Pro. Here’s what you get for that price:

  • Dimensity 9500s chip instead of Dimensity 8500-Ultra

  • Extra 2,500mAh battery capacity

  • Triple IP certification, compared to single IP68

  • 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor instead of optical

The display is larger on the Max (6.83 vs 6.67 inch) and the Max is slightly heavier (218g vs 201.5g).

For gamers needing long battery life or top durability, the Max is worth the extra cost. For users who prioritise portability, one-handed use, or budget: the X8 Pro at Rs. 32,999 is the smarter buy.

Who Should Buy the POCO X8 Pro Max

  • Buy it if: You prioritise battery life above all else and want a phone that genuinely lasts 2–3 days on a single charge
  • Buy it if: You are a heavy mobile gamer who wants flagship-tier chip performance under Rs. 50,000
  • Buy it if: You need exceptional water and dust resistance IP69K at this price is not available elsewhere
  • Consider alternatives if: Camera quality is your primary criteria the image processing does not match the sensor quality
  • Consider alternatives if: You frequently transfer large files and need USB 3.x speeds
  • Philippines note: Official availability not confirmed as of March 2026. Monitor POCO Philippines’ official channels

Wrapping Up

The POCO X8 Pro Max makes a clear promise: it has the biggest battery and great durability, all for under Rs. 50,000 in India, paired with a flagship-tier chip and a class-leading display. The camera over-promises and the USB 2.0 port frustrates at this price point. Everything else delivers.

  • Display: 83″ 1.5K AMOLED, 3840Hz PWM, Dolby Vision excellent
  • Performance: Dimensity 9500s — flagship-tier, outperforms the price
  • Battery: 9,000mAh silicon-carbon + 100W + 27W reverse the headline and it delivers
  • Durability: IP66+IP68+IP69K + 3D ultrasonic fingerprint genuinely rare
  • Camera: 50MP Sony LF600 OIS — hardware is good, processing disappoints
  • USB port: USB 2.0 at Rs. 42,999 — the one unjustifiable compromise
  • Price: 42,999 (256GB) • Rs. 46,999 (512GB) — strong value against the specification list
